Bullies, policemen and city dwellers are all capable of dynamic behavior. Cars move up and down the streets, boats move on the waterways, newspapers hover over the overhead, and wherever you turn, the citizens of Vice City go about their business. Voice City itself is a fully developed island city that lives and breathes like some other game settings before it. What you can't expect is how the game can draw a line between humor and fear, with all this content. As you can imagine, this type of scenario involves a lot of violence.

After the drugs and money disappeared, Tommy found himself fighting to find out who had cheated him while stopping the current criminal elements in Vice City. Once there, Tommy forms a team with a kind lawyer (think of Fredo) and the two start planning big drug scores. Once he's out, his boss sends him to Florida's Vice City as a pointman for some new operations. You are playing Tommy Varsity, a gangster who has just completed 15 years in prison. The game takes place in the 1980's, before the events of GTA3.

The story unfolds in a series of cut scenes that organize the action of each individual mission. Although the anonymous nature of the character in the previous game made it a little easier to adapt to the character, the main character in Vice City is much more strongly tied to the overall narrative. Voice City tells a much harder, more personal story than GTA3. If you have never played a game on any system, you are ready for a real treat.

But the PC version takes advantage of better graphics, a slight shift in controls, a custom MP3-powered radio station, and a quicker customization of the character. All missions, bonuses and roles are completely the same in the console version. The two games are completely identical in content (our strategy guides make things a little easier on the boys). If you've played Voice City on PS2, there are fewer surprises in store. The only downside is that the overall design of the game doesn't have the same effect as the previous game. Add a collection of more weapons, vehicles and other surprises and you'll see that Voice City raises the bar for the series.

Buildings play a big role and at the same time the game not only allows players to enter the structure but also allows them to buy, which opens up a new range of missions and rewards. The missions themselves are often longer and sometimes involve more gameplay than before. The story is very strong this time with a full flush out main character.

I've played a lot of games on the PS2 and have been working hard to play through it again on the PC last week.įor those of you who have already experienced the joys of the previous game on PC or PS2, let me spell out the big differences and improvements in the store for Voice City. Released almost a year after the previous version (and exactly during E3 - thanks, Rockstar), there are a lot of great, minor changes to this model that impressed us last year. The game of speeding and ruthless criminals fills the first few hours with more action and excitement than can be found in most games. With the exception of Grand Theft Auto 3, there is no other game that offers you something like the experience with Grand Theft Auto: Voice City.
